Linux for Beginners - featuring Ubuntu Mate

An overview of Linux, a popular FREE computer operating system perfect for new and older computers, PC or Mac. This course is for those who are familiar with computer basics but are new to Linux. We will be using Ubuntu MATE (ubuntu-mate.org), a very popular Linux distribution. Topics covered include: setting up email, file management, accounts & permissions, software stores and installation, entertainment, LibreOffice and connection to remote services such as Skype and your office computer. A hands-on class using computers running a full working version of Ubuntu MATE Linux. There will be a $10 charge for a runnable USB stick payable in cash to the instructor at the first class. Alternately, if you have attended the Linux Installation Workshop, you are welcome to bring the laptop that you have already setup with Ubuntu-Mate.
